Consultant radiologist Charles Bartlett, 51, who worked in Carmarthen, South Wales, downloaded 1,600 images of children during more than two years of surfing the net.

Consultant gastro- entomologist Adrian Catterall, 44, who worked in Stevenage, was caught with depraved images of children being tortured.But he was told in December he could go back on the medical register less than two years after being sentenced to a three-year community rehabilitation order. He is on the sex offenders' register until 2008.

He was given a community order and reinstated in September provided he agreed to psychiatric supervision and random testing for alcohol. Now he is appealing to get the conditions changed, claiming he is finding it difficult to find work.
